Proposing new members is the responsibility of all Rotarians. New members bring important benefits to the Club, including:

# Fresh, new ideas and enhanced energy;

# Long term continuity to the Club and to the Rotary organization;

# A wider representation in the community;

# A replacement for member losses occasioned by natural attrition.

# The opportunity to make a difference.

In the new Rotary year, Maggie Duggan has taken on special responsibility for keeping membership in the forefront of members minds, as we seek to actively grow the Lindfield Rotary Club and reach ever further into our immediate community.

If you have visited this site with an interest in finding out more about Rotary and what it stands for and would like an invitation to attend one of our regular meetings, please contact Maggie on Ph 9929 3352 or e-mail maggied@bigpond.net.au alternatively click here to use the "Contact Us" page to enter your details and request and we will provide you with a personalised invitation.

How do you become a Rotarian?

Membership is by invitation and a current Rotarian will need to act as your sponsor. Members are usually owners or operators of businesses or people who hold a position of responsibility and leadership within a business or profession. There are nearly 1.2 million Rotarians around the world. Prospective new members are invited to attend the Club's weekly meeting and if possible to join in a Club/Community service activity in order to gain some insight into the workings of the club. Rotarians, individually and collectively, make a difference in our world ... and so can you.

What are the Membership obligations?

Participation:

The Rotary Club of Lindfield expects all members to contribute time and effort to the various projects the club undertakes, although no member is expected to take part in everything, we all participate within our own levels of interest and ability. Involvement is the key factor in enjoyment and satisfaction and everyone is encouraged to participate as much as possible. Rotary is a service organization and Lindfield Rotary is just one of 28,000 Rotary Clubs in 158 countries around the world but like all of them, we focus directly on our local community and our programs are designed to bring together time, resources and money in the service of the communities where we live and work.

Attendance:

Regular attendance is required although Rotarians may attend the meeting of any Rotary Club if they are away from home or unable to attend their own club meeting. It is even possible to do a virtual "Make-up" at Rotary "eClub-One" if members wish.

Our meetings at Lindfield start with social fellowship at 6:30pm and we sit down for dinner promptly at 7:00pm with a welcome and short announcements about the program for the evening from the President. Directors and Committee Chairpersons may have some announcements or requests to bring to the attention of members, the Sergeant-at-Arms will manage a fines session and this will then be followed by the introduction of our Guest speaker for the evening. Meetings finish promptly at 8:30pm.

Financial:

Members are required to pay a small joining fee and annual membership dues. Fees vary from Club to Club but in the Rotary Club of Lindfield our sub is currently $300, billed $150 half yearly. members also meet the cost of their meal each week and there are occasional fines to pay when the Sergeant-at-Arms levies them in fun.
